our areas of practice

Vehicle Injuries

If you are injured in a car accident and the other driver is found to be at fault, you are entitled to recover financial compensation from the other driver and his insurance company. Your award should include monies for your injuries, pain, suffering, disability, emotional distress, loss of your ability to enjoy life's activities and lost wages.

Medical Malpractice

Medical malpractice is defined as any act or omission by a physician during treatment of a patient that deviates from accepted norms of practice in the medical community and causes an injury to the patient. Medical malpractice is a specific subset of tort law that deals with professional negligence.

Dental Malpractice

If you are injured by the negligence of a dentist his malfeasance is considered a breach of the dental standard of care. You are entitled to be compensated for the injury the dentist causes and for any accompanying pain, suffering and emotional distress.

Wrongful Death

If a person's death is caused by the negligence of another person or entity, the surviving family members have the right to bring a civil lawsuit seeking damages from the responsible person. This type of lawsuit is called a wrongful death case.

Dog bite Injuries

When a dog hurts someone, the injured person is likely to sue the animal's owner for medical costs and other damages. In more than half of the states, including Connecticut, those lawsuits are based on laws that make the owner automatically liable for most dog-bite injuries.

Elevator Accidents

When a malfunction with an elevator causes personal injury, the owner or manager of the building may be held liable for the resulting damages. Companies that are under contract to service the elevators may be responsible if their negligence contributed to the accident.

Motorcycle Accidents

Liability in motorcycle accidents is governed by the law of "negligence." A person is negligent when he or she behaves in a thoughtless or careless manner causes injury to another person. If the driver of another vehicles is negligent, then he is responsible to compensate the injured cyclist.

Bicycle Accidents

Bicycle accidents can result in serious and sometimes fatal injuries. Liability for bike accident injuries often comes down to negligence — whether the car driver's negligence caused the cyclist's injuries. If it did, then the cyclist is entitled to compensation.

Defective Products

Product liability refers to a manufacturer or seller being held liable for placing a defective product into the hands of a consumer. Responsibility for a product defect that causes injury lies with all sellers of the product who are in the distribution chain.

Workplace Injuries

Connecticut laws require most employers to obtain workers' compensation insurance. In exchange the laws provide that, for the most part, employees can't sue their employers over workplace injuries.

Food Poisoning

In a case against a store or restaurant for food poisoning, a plaintiff (the person who is suing) must prove that the business caused the food poisoning … A doctor should be consulted immediately to determine the illness and identify of the contaminated food.

Fall Down Injuries

Property owners are responsible to use resonable care in maintaining their property. When they don't, they must compensate the injured person.

Shopping Center Accidents

Owners of shopping centers and malls are responsible for the safety of their customers. When their negligence results in an injury to a customer, the owners are required to compensate the injured patron.

Liquor Liability/Dram Shop claims

If a bar or restaurant serves alcoholic beverages to an intoxicated customer who thereafter leaves the establishment, drives his car and causes an accident, any injured persons are entitled to recover compensation directly from the bar or restaurant and their insurance company. This is called a Dram Shop claim under the law and is designed to discourage the sellers of alcoholic beverages from overserving their customers.
